What other designers say about us Click the videos below to hear from our clients Our students success RYAN I GOT THE OFFER!!! they were supposed to tell me end of this week cuz this whole week is interview sessions but i got the offer!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! so grateful for both you and Marc's help throughout!!! I really got into the sector I want to. thank you so much Ryan!!!! All the hard work was really worth it Jaqueline Lau Offered a job Hi Ryan, the interview went well, I am going to take the opportunity with Atelier. I will be working with two design directors. It's a small and intimate practice, so more responsibility and learning as I will be doing a bit of everything. Laiqah Khan Offered a job I have actually had three interviews and three job offers in the last two weeks since I completed the self-paced course and attended that workshop with Marc, making changes based on his suggestions. I signed up to the course because I was really lacking confidence and direction, I can't tell you how helpful it's been for practical advice and boosting confidence. The 1:1 messages make it feel like a much less lonely process. You're providing a much needed service given how little architecture courses prepare you for job hunting. Thank you so much for everything Rebecca Woolich Offered a job I have some good news! I have been offered the Part 2/Part 3 role by B3 Architects. I had the interview yesterday and they offered me the role this morning. Anjali Bhatia Offered a job Hey Ryan I just got the call , I got the job I’m filled with excitement and relief Thank you so much honestly Dilan Boyraz Offered a job Just wanted to let you know I got the job at Clear Architects yesterday. They've offered like a lot of progression within the company. Zaeem Ahmed Offered a job Load more 100% of our students say they would recommend us and our programme to someone looking for a job You’re setting a great example that you CAN achieve a healthy work life balance in architecture, contrary to what most people have come to accept which is working tirelessly to meet unrealistic deadlines because “that’s just the way it is” which it doesn’t have to be. I wanted to say thank you for all the support you’ve provided and your patience working with me that I really needed. Now I feel like I’m stepping in to the next point of my career with a more positive outlook and open mind, the reflections and conversations we’ve had about this being a driving factor towards this. Linda Tighlit Part II Architectural Assistant I have learnt many things about professional application by working with the team and Ryan. I have gained more confidence in myself and how I carry myself. This programme is the real deal. You're meeting with real professionals who know what they are talking about. They are here to really make your success their mission. Can't recommend Ryan and Marc enough, they honestly so good! Anjali Bhatia Part II Architectural Assistant I honestly can’t express how happy I’ve been to work with you too!! I feel like I’ve grown so much, both professionally and personally. I’ve started to understand my values, priorities and goals in a completely new way. I’m also incredibly grateful for your help with the articles. You know how passionate I am about it! Your advice and support have meant so much to me. And thank you for helping me realize how little I used to believe in myself. Victoria Tyshchenko Part I Architectural Assistant Today is probably the first time I've not only received some feedback on my portfolio, but it was also positive. Quoting the man, "Your portfolio is excellent, one of the best we've seen. It definitely aligns with the type of design work we do." Zara Siddique Interior Design and Architecture Graduate I would like to thank Ryan Wenham for supporting me through this journey and providing valuable inputs. This experience deepened my commitment to architecture that is both emotionally resonant and universally accessible, a practice of design that respects and uplifts every user through enhanced perception. Supriya G.H.L Part I Architectural Assistant Definitely enjoying the programme and has changed my mind a lot about how I see myself, how I present myself and what I actually want from architecture. I think knowing this is so important and although I knew it before hand, i didn't know how to communicate that efficiently. I think being out of the industry for a while made me forget that and it was about reconnecting with myself, my work and my values which has made me feel 10x more confident in being job ready. I've still a lot to work on and areas that need improving, but think I'm going to be ready to apply to practices confidently from Monday, which is less than 2 weeks since starting (much quicker than i anticipated). Duration: 1 hour Register for the free workshop Why did we create this programme? Hi! 👋 My name is Ryan, creator of Larsen Architecture and this Career Accelerator Programme . I am a practicing Chartered Architect and a Registered Interior Designer. As someone who has come through the full design education system, I have always felt that there a standard, pre-determined career path that we are obliged to take, which results in a lack of individuality and creativity - something that we should be promoting within the design industry! This 'one-size-fits-all' approach to design education leads to makes it difficult for people to stand out, to follow their passions and to get jobs. Meaning that young designers are left feeling undervalued and severely underpaid, especially compared to equally qualified students in other industries. This is something that we are trying to tackle and is why we have created this programme . You should be able to carve your own career path, design your own future and get paid for it. More About Us Click the videos above to play Our students' award winning work The Science behind what we do Think of the teachers that had the biggest impact on you in school. These teachers were utilising both their innate and their acquired skillset in order to pass on their knowledge of the world to you. The teachers you will remember the most are probably the ones who were highly successful at passing on this knowledge without you even realising that you were involved in a learning process. This type of learning is “hidden in plain sight” and is not easy to achieve. But we have worked hard for years in order to develop a programme that does exactly this. We are able to provide you with the tools and resources that you need, whilst letting you focus on yourself, without feeling the pressure of traditional learning methodologies. Our programme is grounded in the psychology of learning and development and is structured in order to help you discover your unique potential and purpose. Some of our biggest inspirations for the programme, from which you will benefit across all four stages (Discover, Build, Communicate, and Implement), are listed below: Click on the images above to read more In order to help you learn and implement the above, we utilise coaching methods and a series of resources that are scientifically proven to be impactful in your self-development journey: Personalised one-to-one coaching and mentoring Guidance through project development High-impact communication to sell/market your brand’s identity to potential clients or employers Self-directed learning to fit around your work and any study commitments Spaced repetition helps solidify knowledge successfully and helps build a picture of this self-development journey Continuous refinement through specific, focussed feedback If you are ready to take action towards your future, book a call with us so we can walk you through the process. Start learning today Frequently asked questions What is Insights Discovery Career Accelerator Programme Competitions & Awards What is Insights Discovery? Insights Discovery is a psychometric tool that helps you understand yourself, your communication style, and your work preferences. Insights Discovery will also provide you with the resources you need to understand how others like to communicate and work, hence giving you a competitive advantage when it comes to effectively selling your brand, dealing with clients, or working with colleagues. We use Insights Discovery ourselves to help us understand each other as a team, as well as understand our clients' communication and work preferences. How can Insights Discovery help my business? Insights Discovery can give you a competitive advantage when it comes to effectively selling your brand to achieve whichever goals you have set for yourself and your business. Let’s break down the concept even further. Insights Discovery is a (1) psychometric (2) tool that helps you (3) understand and improve communication. • (1) Psychometric: related to personality. Your brand is highly linked to your personality. Your brand IS a personality in itself. You utilise this personality to attract clients who either have that personality style, or see it as a goal. • (2) Tool: anything that helps you achieve a specific outcome. Whatever your reason for joining the programme (e.g. reaching clients, changing industries, getting a better job, making more sales…), Insights Discovery can help you. We will show you how to utilise it to reach your goals. • (3) Understand and improve communication: the ultimate goal of any professional. Our programme is focussed on helping you improve how you communicate with your clients, colleagues or employers. Once you understand your communication style, you will have the resources necessary to understand everyone else. Your personal brand is an extension of you and how you communicate, it sets the expectations for people to understand how you approach tasks. Your professional brand does the same, but for your business persona instead. Do I have to pay extra for Insights Discovery? A personalised foundational module of Insights discovery is included in our One-To-One Professional Development Programme for each designer that is entering the programme. You will receive all required training and guidance to help you navigate it. Insights Discovery is a modular tool. This means that it expands as you develop, and you can add modules, or “chapters”, as you advance as a professional. Whilst you do not need any more than the foundational module to understand yourself and others, you may decide that a specific chapter (such as sales or leadership) could be beneficial to you and your specific circumstances. In that case, you can request to purchase further modules. Can I use Insights Discovery with my team? Absolutely. Each individual that joins the One-To-One Professional Development Programme receives an Insights Discovery profile as well as training and guidance on how to utilise it to its full potential. We can also work with you to create a curated plan that works for you, your business, and your team. This curated programme can include extra modules of the profile, as well as bespoke training sessions online or in person. Who we work with Load More

  • Marc Prats | Larsen Architecture

Organisational Psychologist | Confidence Coach | TEDx Speaker Marc Prats is a trainer, coach and communication specialist with a background in linguistics, organisational psychology and leadership development. A qualified Insights Discovery Practitioner, he designs and delivers professional development programmes at Larsen Architecture that help architects and designers strengthen communication, build confidence and unlock their full potential in both business and practice. Marc Prats My background started in teaching, and since then I’ve worked across multiple industries - including architecture, interior design, engineering, and law, to name a few. I’m not a designer, and that’s intentional. What I bring is the external perspective most graduates never get: deep experience in HR, recruitment, and early careers development. I know what hiring teams look for, what makes people stand out for the right reasons, and what gets overlooked even when the work is strong. I’m also a communications specialist - and in this industry, communication is everything. You can have great projects, but if you can’t clearly communicate your value, your role-fit, and your potential, studios won’t take the next step. Connect with Marc As seen in: About Marc Born and raised in Barcelona, Marc Prats has always been fascinated by people, language and the psychology behind communication. He studied English at the University of Barcelona and the University of Manchester before completing a Master’s in Psychology at Leeds Beckett University. His career took him into teaching, learning and development, leadership training and professional coaching within large organisations. He has supported apprentices, graduates and senior professionals to improve performance and build confidence. Marc’s strength lies in understanding human behaviour and turning that insight into practical development. He has designed and delivered leadership programmes, facilitated conferences, and run communication coaching for teams across a wide range of sectors. His work focuses on helping people understand themselves, communicate clearly and make meaningful progress in both their careers and their lives. At Larsen Architecture, Marc brings the structure and support that the design industry has been missing. Architecture can be a competitive and isolating profession with minimal emphasis on personal development, self-awareness or community. Marc’s expertise provides designers with the knowledge, confidence and clarity they need to grow both creatively and professionally. As seen in: How to declutter your home, diary... and mind The UK’s first business coaching programme for designers The Well Crowd News from The North - Self Awareness How To Get Work Experience For Architecture The Architects’ Journal - Liverpool-based emerging practice Arch Daily Marc has travelled across the country delivering Insights Discovery sessions as an Accredited Insights Discovery Practitioner, helping professionals in multiple industries understand how they work, how they come across, and how to communicate more effectively under pressure. This is directly relevant to getting hired in design because studios don’t just assess your portfolio - they assess you: how clearly you explain your thinking, how you handle feedback, how you collaborate, and whether you feel like a safe, professional hire. Marc’s work helps you build that professional communication edge - the part that often decides who gets the interview, who gets the offer, and who gets remembered. Marc has also been invited by the University of Liverpool to present an award to their graduates - which is a strong signal of credibility. Universities don’t put just anyone in front of graduating cohorts; they choose people they trust to represent professional standards and speak with authority about careers, employability, and what the industry actually expects. It reflects the level of respect Marc has built through his work in early careers, professional development, and communication. Why we built this together Between us, you get the best of both worlds: Ryan brings the industry know-how, credibility and studio reality. I bring the career strategy, hiring psychology, and communication edge. Larsen Liverpool have hosted an international design competition for architects, designers and students. Check out the winning design scheme here. TAVERTET CLIFF-EDGE HOTEL RETHINKING ARCHITECTURE. CREATING A PLATFORM FOR ARCHITECTS & STUDENTS TO EXPLORE THEIR CREATIVITY 1st Prize 2nd Prize Public Favourite Honourable Mentions Inspiration Gallery USE THIS PROJECT & SITE ANALYSIS FOR YOUR THESIS / UNIVERSITY / PROFESSIONAL PROJECT All of our project briefs and all resources can be used independently or as part of your educational and career progression. University Thesis | University Project | Portfolio Development | Professional Development | Extra-curricular activity No product Add to Cart THE BRIEF This design challenge asks for an inspiring sustainable hotel that will sit high in the Pre-Pyrenees mountains gazing across the dramatic landscape within the Les Guilleries natural park, Catalonia. The challenge is to create a sustainable, environmentally conscious structure, or set of structures that sit peacefully, teetering at the edge of the cliffs, providing an emotive experience for visitors. The design should take its inspiration from the natural setting and connect with its surroundings, allowing visitors to have an immersive experience, both inside and outside of the hotel, of the dramatic scenery and wildlife that surrounds them. THE SITE Tavertet is a small mountain village at the top of the Guilleries Natural Park, nestled within the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees mountains. The Pre-Pyrenees consist of large groups of low, undulating mountains at the base of the much taller, much sharper Pyrenees, which create a natural border between Spain, France and Andorra. The village of Tavertet is extremely well taken care of by its (just over) 100 citizens. The older buildings are well preserved and the newer buildings pay tribute to the ancient architecture the village hosts. The Tavertet region is home to remains of a 12th century castle, and most of the town's historic centre was erected in the 17th and 18th centuries. The historic centre is now listed as a Site of Cultural Interest . 1st PRIZE SETSUZOKU 101 Design Studio Usman Haider , Hossam Anwar , Ammara Majeed Winner Sau THE WINNING DESIGN SCHEME SETSUZOKU Design Process Using the natural environment, we have kept the topography in mind in order to create an urban scape which gels in with the cliff. As to the design schemes light was kept as a crucial factor in deciding shapes and natural light slits all over the design scheme. An architectural statement was considered for the current times allowing people to view the meditation space, A stone monolith with peeking light voids stands as a giant reflection plane bringing in a stark presence yet camouflaged with the environment. A ramp leads users on a journey from the entrance wing, which hosts a restaurant serving users with local cuisine and the option to cater locally picked fruits and mushrooms by the guest. Underneath that built surface is a cantilevered pool jutting out of the cliff overlooking the valley. The ramp envelopes an open landscape region which serves as an auditorium for communal events and produces internal pockets with BBQ spaces for the guests. Guest suites are placed on increasing levels with the cliff topography with half units on the cliff and half of them built into the mountain, accessible via the landscape area and ramp. A voyage on its own at the end the cantilevered Rupu, serves as the climax of the site, where users can ascend their view and take in the grandeur of the valley, the environment before them. Materials Beams and posts using a hybrid of reclaimed wood and locally enabled steel structures are used in the hotel promoting the reuse of material and generation of raw materials from nearby surroundings rather than sourcing them from outside. Sub Mediterranean Oak & Pine will be the primary source of reclaiming materials. In humid scenarios local mushroom population will be primed to be used for Mycellium cladding on the surfaces allowing guests to add to the identity of the hotel on their trail pickings. Summary The environment on site asked for a hybrid-built intervention that respects both mother nature and the user coming into the site. The Setsuzoku enables us to create that connection between what was and what would be. A sustainable approach to a simple concept of Connection. 2nd PRIZE 1st PRIZE Winner 2 INNERMOST Ngo Duc Hieu, Nguyen Phuc Vinh, Chu Minh Duc Public Favourite THE PUBLIC FAVOURITE To vote for the title of Public Favourite, please click on the link below. Best Value Lifetime Access £197 £ 197 Instant lifetime access Cancel-any-time £29 £ 29 Every month Instant Access Why did we create this programme? More About Us Click the videos above to play Our students' award-winning work The Science behind what we do Think of the teachers that had the biggest impact on you in school. Your innovative designs can breathe new life into the site, making it a symbol of environmental restoration and conservation. The primary goal is to revitalise the site by encouraging native ecosystems and habitats to return, while creating a harmonious coexistence between nature and humans using one, or all, of our three competition briefs, outlining the design for a Concert Hall, a full Revitalising Landscaping proposal and a Biophilic Pavillion, all located within the quarry of your choice. For all of our quarry competitions, you have the option to choose your own site location or one of the site locations that we have provided. If you are choosing your own site, it must be a disused, open stone quarry that has had no post industrial intervention, or a quarry that is currently in use and will benefit from your proposal once the material extraction has been exhausted. If you have a site in mind but are unsure whether it is suitable, you can contact us via info@larsenliverpool.com and we would be very happy to discuss this with you. We have provided the option to use one of three different stone quarries from around the United Kingdom, located in protected Natural Parks. You may select any one of these sites to use as the basis of your project. Our Site Analysis Package includes 3D topography and Photographs of each of the sites. Disused quarries can have a detrimental effect on the landscape, destroying large areas of natural habitats. Your objective for these projects is to create a detailed proposal for the revitalisation of a quarry that can act as a catalyst to encourage similar interventions worldwide, with an emphasis on sustainable design, wildlife conservation and a comprehensive landscaping scheme with native flora. • Emporda Wetlands Eco Village | Architecture Competition

This architectural competition challenges the most experienced of designers to create a self-sustaining village in the Mediterranean coast of Girona. 1/3 SELF-SUSTAINING ECO VILLAGE, TOWN HALL & FLOATING ECO HOUSE EMPORDÀ GREEK ECO VILLAGE COMPETITIONS Get competition files SUSTAINABLE ECO VILLAGE Empordà takes its name from Empúries, the first Ancient Greek settlement in the Iberian peninsula, located just south of the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà or the "Emporda Wetlands". The Emporda Wetlands are one of the most important wetland habitats in Spain. They are rich in biodiversity and have been heavily impacted by tourism and construction in the last few decades. We believe humans and nature can both coexist and benefit each other. This is why we have designed our most ambitious set of competitions yet, where we explore how humans should live within and alongside nature. We expect all proposals to consider not only minimal-impact designs and sustainable construction methods, but also demonstrate a self-sufficient and eco positive lifestyle that benefits the surrounding environment. This is your chance to shine. Start your self-sustainability journey now. VIEW THE WINNING DESIGNS Button gallery EMPORDÀ BRIEFS Create a single image, visual, drawing that best illustrates your proposal for each the Eco-Village within the wetlands of Empordà. Using the briefs that are given, describe to us how this village will look and how you imagine the eco-village within just a single image! Use this mini challenge to test your creativity, practice visual software skills and expand your portfolio. 1. Self-Sustaining Eco Village 2. Town Hall 3. Floating Eco House 4. Site Analysis UNLIMITED Competitions Empordà Polis - Self-Sustaining Eco Village Competition Challenge: to design a self-sufficient eco village in the protected wetlands of Empordà. This design challenge asks for a fully self-sustaining eco village that will sit peacefully within the site and allow both humans and nature to share the same space and revolutionises the way we live - providing a fully independent and minimal impact lifestyle, while retaining the comforts and technologies of modern day life. The challenge is to work with this incredible landscape to produce lightweight and undetectable buildings that bond humans and nature. We expect to see environmentally-conscious structures that set a precedent for what sustainable architecture should look like. We expect you to consider every aspect of the design and building process: the materials to be used, their sourcing, how they will be taken to the site, how the buildings will be erected without disturbing the local nature, how the village will be self-sustaining, how the village will benefit the surrounding nature. beautiful site biodiversity coastline floodplains habitat preservation landscape design masterplanning mountains nature reserve passive design resource conservation stunning visuals sustainable design unique landscape urban planning wetlands wildlife conservation Get competition files Empordà Agora - Town Hall Competition Challenge: The Town Hall should contain a communal, multifunctional space, an information/visitor point and a small cafe. The idea of this competition is to create a unique, site-specific design that responds to this special setting and the natural changes that occur within. The building will be made up of a communal, multifunctional space capable of hosting markets, school groups, small theatre and music productions and political and cultural gatherings, as well as a variety of other community interest activities. It will also contain an information/visitor point and a small cafe selling local produce. This competition takes inspiration from the nearby Ancient Greek settlement of Empúries. The name Empordà is a derivative of Empúries meaning "the markets" and the Agora, in ancient Greek cities, a meeting space for various community activities. The proposed building should be a combination of these ancient ideologies and hold an architectural interest in its own right as an individual and memorable space, capable of attracting visitors from outside the immediate community to venture inside and take part in any local activities. A good design must focus on the functionality of the architecture and interact with the natural flora and fauna, blurring the lines between outside and inside, connecting visitors to nature within this incredible, utopian setting. ancient settlement cafe design cultural heritage cultural inclusion eco-friendly public architecture event space indoor market innovative design masterplanning political events public area sustainable design theatre design urban planning visitor centre Get competition files Empordà Domus - Floating Eco House Competition Challenge: to design a floating house, which can be incorporated in the Self-Sufficient Eco Village Competition. A successful design will demonstrate how the specifics of the site have been considered, including the rise and fall of the water and how this will be achieved without stopping the flooding and therefore impacting the ecology of the landscape. We are looking for a groundbreaking and unprecedented concept for a new way of living with a design that promotes sustainable, minimal impact architecture that meets its social purpose and combines a less straining, primitive lifestyle with the comfort and convenience of modern day technologies. The form of the structure is open to interpretation, and we encourage designers to be creative and think of innovative solutions to the question of ‘how do we live?’. biodiversity challenging architecture coastline ecology floating architecture floating building floodplains house design interior design minimal impact mountains resource conservation sustainable living vernacular housing wetlands Get competition files Site Analysis SITE ANALYSIS, TOPOGRAPHY & PHOTOGRAPHS Exclusive package including: Additional images & videos Project criteria & details Local Routes & Site information Flora & Faunal information 3D CAD Topography Get competition files UNLIMITED - Lifetime Competition Access £20,000+ International Design Review Video Call Open to Students & Professionals See All Project Briefs UNLIMITED members receive exclusive lifetime access to ALL Larsen Liverpool content: competitions, premium content, site analysis, certificates of participation, and much more. + a free one-to-one design review video call. I signed up to the course because I was really lacking confidence and direction, I can't tell you how helpful it's been for practical advice and boosting confidence. The 1:1 messages make it feel like a much less lonely process. You're providing a much needed service given how little architecture courses prepare you for job hunting. Thank you so much for everything Rebecca Woolich Part II Architectural Assistant I have some good news! I have been offered the Part 2/Part 3 role by B3 Architects. I had the interview yesterday and they offered me the role this morning. Anjali Bhatia Part II Architectural Assistant Hey Ryan I just got the call , I got the job I’m filled with excitement and relief Thank you so much honestly Dilan Boyraz Part II Architectural Assistant Just wanted to let you know I got the job at Clear Architects yesterday. They've offered like a lot of progression within the company. Zaeem Ahmed Architect Load more 100% of our students say they would recommend us and our programme to someone looking for a job You’re setting a great example that you CAN achieve a healthy work life balance in architecture, contrary to what most people have come to accept which is working tirelessly to meet unrealistic deadlines because “that’s just the way it is” which it doesn’t have to be. Hi! 👋 My name is Ryan, creator of Larsen Architecture and our Career Accelerator Programme . This is something that we are trying to tackle and is why we have created these guides . Nobody teaches you what to do next - and that's what we are here for! More About Us Click the videos above to play Our students' award-winning work The Science behind what we do Think of the teachers that had the biggest impact on you in school.
