The Brief and Design Criteria


The objective of this architectural design competition was to conceptualise a vernacular meditation space within the heart of the Catalonian Pyrenees mountains.


We set the brief to give the opportunity for participants to showcase their talents and design a structure that allowed for visitors to feel a deep connection with the cultural heritage of the area.


The Criteria

The Brief Criteria


  • A meditation space

  • Use of vernacular architecture (local architectural style and available building materials)

  • An environmentally-conscious design

  • Acknowledgement of cultural heritage

  • Consideration of the site - church and landscape

  • Consideration of the visitor's short stays

  • Communication of the scheme

  • Consistent graphic style

  • Visuals

  • Visitor journey

  • Detail

  • Creativity


The Awards


The winning entry will receive the following prizes

  1. £500 Cash Prize

  2. A free copy of our upcoming competition booklet

  3. The chance to sit in our judging panel in one of our future competitions

  4. A free entry to one of our design competitions

  5. 100 trees planted in the winner's name

  6. Published across our global platforms
