Larsen Liverpool announces new architecture competitions to shape the future of sustainable living

These new competitions are set to become one of the most ambitious projects by the firm, and aim to create a new standard of eco-living with a range of environmentally-friendly architecture competitions.

Ryan Wenham, Architect, Founder and Creative Director stated "The natural environment in the Emporda region in northern Catalonia has suffered the impact of unlawful development for decades. The Aiguamolls de l'Emporda now benefits from protected Natural Park status, yet it struggles to keep antisocial behaviour away due to its closeness to the nearby Empuriabrava development, and the neighbouring camping area."

"We have designed the Emporda competitions with self-sustainability in mind. We believe humans and nature should both coexist and benefit each other"

The brief allows for students, architects and designers to produce an innovative project that will look great as a physical or digital presentation and an impressive addition to their portfolio.

The competitions included in the Emporda project include:

  • Emporda Polis - self-sustaining eco-village

  • Emporda Agora - town hall for eco-village

  • Emporda Domus - floating eco-house
